Björk

Why she is cool: Björk founded the organisation "Nattura" in 2008 which aims to promote Icelandic nature and grassroots industries. In June 2008 she organized and headlined in a free concert in Reykjavík with Sigur Rós to raise awareness on environmental issues. In collaboration with Audur Group, she set up a venture capital fund titled "BJÖRK" to support the creation of sustainable industries in Iceland. Björk was nominated FUN: Friend of the UN by UNRIC in 2008.

Cool facts: Björk is an Icelandic singer-songwriter whose work includes seven solo albums and two film soundtracks which have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide. She has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award and one Golden Globe Award for her music. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in Dancer in the Dark and won the Best Actress Award at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival.
