An important year for climate change
Year 1994 was an important year for climate change, as the first significant global efforts was taken.
- The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer entered into force.
- A second global conference on climate was held in The Hague. The outcome of the conference was the declaration of The Hague, where 137 heads of state decided to reduce their emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) by the year 2000.
- The International Negotiation Committee (INC) is created by the General Assembly to write the United Framework Convention on Climate Change.
- The Helsinki Declaration on the Protection of the Ozone Layer was adopted.
