HOME – a unique trip

When 500,000 photos, 100 open-air free access exhibitions and four documentaries become a movie, a unique journey is created. HOME is a film by world-renowned photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, which aims to inspire global action by raising awareness about our shared responsibility for the planet and all of its inhabitants.
Arthus-Bertrand takes the viewers on an original journey to help us understand our relationship with our planet, with one single goal: to urge us to protect the Earth. The movie also reveals the treasures the planet offers and the marks we leave behind.
Arthus-Bertrand says he has been nurturing HOME for more than 15 years. “What I saw and learnt as I flew over the Earth changed me forever. I want to share what I’ve sensed throughout these journeys. This film will have to be both splendid and clever, but also strongly optimistic. For example, it is not the 50% of forest that has disappeared that is important, but the 50% left. This film aims to make understand that we are ALL responsible.”
The film is a travel notebook, showing landscapes captured only from above. Looking down from the sky, we can follow the water currents, the road directions, and we can embrace a complex situation in a simple look. As we rise in the air, we see our world in a whole new light. HOME invites us to stop for a moment in order to look at our planet and realize how we treat it.
To watch HOME is also a commitment to the protection of our planet: the movie is a non-profit initiative and any profits will be transferred to Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s association GoodPlanet, which works for the protection of the environment. In addition, the greenhouse gas emissions caused by shooting of HOME were offset trough environment friendly projects.
The film is produced by ELZEVIR FILMS and EUROPACORP and will be released on June 5th 2009, World Environment Day.
