Climate camps collect the youth’s solutions for climate challenges

Two climate camps are currently underway in Denmark with the aim to gather new ideas and possible solutions for future climate challenges from the youth of the world. The idea behind the camps is to utilize the youth’s infinite potential for ambitious and creative thinking and their innovative ideas for climate challenges.
The Bright Green Youth initiative’s climate camp will bring together 500 young people from 41 countries from 8-11 August. The participants will be working in small groups and their ideas for products and services will be presented to the Danish government prior to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen in December. ”Tomorrow’s adults look at the world from totally different angles – also when it comes to the problem of climate change. They have no climate prejudices, and consequently, they are more innovative,” says Peter Rathje of ProjectZero, one of the organizers behind Bright Green Youth project.
From the 9-15 August the COme2gether project will be organizing 11 climate camps in Danish Folk High Schools. The aim of these camps is to deliver constructive suggestions for solutions based on general scientific knowledge and engage the youth in global climate dialogue across national boarders. The project will bring together people and organizations that do not necessarily agree on all the aspects of the climate issue, nor what solutions or which goals should be pursued first. The Come2gether project also has an interactive website, which acts as a place for inspiration, communication and exchanging of ideas.
