Only with a massive pressure from the people will political leaders commit themselves to save the climate. On Saturday 5 December, ahead of the crucial UN climate conference in Copenhagen, thousands of people will march through the streets in Belgium and the UK to demonstrate their support for a safe climate for all.

As part of a global series of public actions, The Wave will call on world leaders to take urgent action to secure a fair international deal to stop global warming. The Wave is not just a huge march but a whole day of campaign activities. It is organized by various organizations, groups and unions, aiming to bring together mass support by people from all backgrounds for a better, low carbon future for the world.

Both in the UK and Belgium, the Wave is now becoming one of the largest climate events ever, with bike rides setting off a week before and feeder events happening right up to the big day:

What is happening?
Brussels, Belgium: The Belgian network Climate Coalition, a group of non-profit organizations putting their forces together to tackle climate change, is organizing the wave for the climate in Brussels on 5 December. At the same time, the Train to Copenhagen, the symbolic voyage from Kyoto to Copenhagen with several key representatives on board, takes off from Brussels south station.

London, England: The Wave is organized by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition, UK’s largest group of people dedicated to action on climate change - making up more than 11 million people in over 100 organizations, from environment and development charities to unions, faith, community and altwomen's groups. The different events will start before 12 noon on 5th December, ending with The Wave After Party from 5.30 PM.

Glasgow, Scotland: In Scotland, the activates will be organised by the Stop Climate Chaos network which includes around 60 organizations in Scotland that are campaigning on climate change. Together they represent over two million people in Scotland - 40% of the population. The Wave will start at Bellahouston Park and finish in Kelvingrove Park in the West End where there will be a live music, speakers and other activities.

Also check out ocean rower and environmentalist Roz Savage, who is walking 200 miles from Big Ben in London to Brussels – just in time to reach the climate express from Brussels on December 5.
