FAO Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
FAO’s role is to assist member countries, in particular developing countries which are vulnerable to climate change, to enhance their capacities to confront the negative impacts of climate variability and change on agriculture.
FAO collaborates with the secretariat and subsidiary bodies of the UNFCCC and the IPCC and sister agencies such as the WMO and UNEP. FAO's activities in climate change cover all agricultural sectors such as agriculture, livestock, forestry, fisheries as well as highly cross-sectored topics as bio-energy, biodiversity and climate risk management. FAO contributes to the climate debate by assessing the available scientific evidence, participating in observing and monitoring systems, collecting unique global datasets, promoting adaptation and mitigation practices and by providing a neutral forum for negotiations and technical discussions on climate change and agriculture.
