As COP15 negotiations are getting closer to an end,
the ice bridge and polar bear statues in Copenhagen city centre are about to
melt away…
”When people touch that bear, they are touching the Arctic. Because that sculpture is not a sculpture of a polar bear, it’s a sculpture of the Arctic, explained the animal sculptor Mark Coreth to Aftenposten.no, while finishing the last details of his ice sculpture last week.

With 3 days left of the crucial Copenhagen climate
conference Avaaz.org, an independent, not-for-profit global campaigning
organization, is aiming to put together the largest petition in
history, in the next 72 hours. The petition for a real deal in
Copenhagen already has a staggering 10 million supporters. An Avaaz
team is meeting daily with negotiators inside the summit who will
organize a spectacular petition delivery to world leaders as they
arrive, building a giant wall of boxes of names and reading out the
names of every person who signs.
"With the largest petition in history, leaders will have no doubt that the whole world is watching", the Avaaz team says.

Earth hour today! Don’t forget!
Wednesday, 16 December 2009 00:00

If you are in Copenhagen you can go to the Planetarium at 4 pm to make lanterns for the lantern procession. The singers Simon Mathew and Ida Corr will be performing in the Planetarium at 5 pm, and at 6 pm the lantern procession will walk through Tivoli and enter the town hall square (Hopenhagen) at 7 pm when Copenhagen turns off the light of the city.
In Hopenhagen LIVE the Globe will also be turned off and from the stage music and beautiful words will fill the darkness.
So come join the Coolplanet team and the rest of Copenhagen when we unite in darkness in a show of support for a brighter future.

Magnus the Lucia bride from Commute Greener
Monday, 14 December 2009 14:40
On our way around Copenhagen, the
Coolplanet team ran into Swedish Magnus Holmqvist
dressed up as a Lucia bride.
Magnus was out promoting Commute Greener by Volvo - a system that turns your mobile phone into a personal CO2
calculator, helping you to reduce personal and global CO2
footprints.
We asked him why he was out in freezing Copenhagen dressed up as a Lucia bride.
“I’m here to get individuals involved. By using Commute Greener you can set your target, see to that you reach it and then you can even share with your friends in a friendly competition.”
