International Day of Action tomorrow
Friday, 11 December 2009 00:00
The 12th is the day for big events with lots of people in Copenhagen and all over the world! Join us in the demonstrations and help show that people can influence the governments and hold them to account!
The day of action starts at 10 am on 12 December, where Friends of the Earth International is organizing a flood for justice. The event will start at Halmtorvet near Klimaforum09 – the peoples’ climate summit - with a colourful procession moving as a human flood. The Flood will end with a flooding of the Parliament square (Christiansborg Slotsplads) – home of the Danish Parliament.
At 13.00, demonstrators will march from Parliament Square to Bella Center, the venue of the UN Climate Talks. The march is about six kilometres and will take about 2 ½ - 3 hours to walk. There will be a few speakers at the starting point, and at Bella Center there will be a broader range of speakers and music.
The slogan of the demonstration is Planet First – People First and everybody is encouraged to bring their own slogans and banners.
15,000 – 60,000 people are expected to participate in the demonstrations which will be the biggest event during the two weeks of climate negotiations.
