Nordic energy solutions in cyberspace

The Nordic Council of Ministers has opened Nordic Energy Solutions, a new website for Nordic solutions with renewable energy technology, research and development, and political solutions which support sustainable energy consumption.

The new website, (http://www.nordicenergysolutions.org/)  was the focal point at the internet café organized by the council of ministers (13 March) during the Climate Change Congress at Bella Center in Copenhagen.

"A joint information campaign will increase interest for Nordic solutions and spread knowledge about the Nordic qualifications amongst decision-makers who are calling for sustainable solutions for energy and climate problems", said Jørgen Calundann, chair of the Nordic Working Group for Renewable Energy, in connection with the Globalisation Forum held recently in Iceland when Nordic Energy Solutions was launched.

The idea is that Nordic Energy Solutions will be a joint platform for the Nordic countries to promote and market themselves in this area. The web portal is one of the Nordic globalisation initiatives which form the basis for renewed co-operation in climate, the environment, research and education.

Three institutions under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers, Nordic Innovation Centre (NICe), NordForsk and Nordic Energy Research (NEF), were represented at the internet café which attracted many international scientists and other people interested in hearing more about the work in the Nordic countries.

As well as the new web portal, there was great interest in the major joint research and innovation venture for climate, the environment and energy endorsed by the Nordic countries. This venture, combined with national funding, will form the basis for development of sustainable energy solutions. The venture will contribute to solutions for the global challenges of energy and climate and strengthen the Nordic Region in research and innovation.
