Finland launched a new book on the connections of development practices and climate change, ”Rethinking Development in a Carbon-Constrained World”, during a side event of the ongoing UNFCC Climate Change talks in Bonn. The book aims to bring forward challenges arising from the prevailing development paradigms in the context of climate change. The new publication includes articles written by experts from developing and developed countries, as well as international organizations and NGOs. The authors provide inputs both into the process leading to the Copenhagen Climate Conference, and for practical development work.
“The new book provides a linkage between development co-operation and climate change,” Shardul Agrawala, Senior Economist on Climate Change for OECD Environment Directorate and one of the authors of the recent publication, said at the launch of the publication. She also pointed out that development co-operation actors have often different view points from national climate negotiators. The new book will ideally help to create dialog between different actors, and so contribute to achieving a stronger climate agreement in Copenhagen.
”Rethinking Development in a Carbon-Constrained World” can be downloaded online in PDF-format.
