Monday, 22 June 2009 10:33
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi, India, has launched a specialized library on climate change (SLCC). The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness and increase information on the issue of climate change. The library will function as an information collection, compilation and dissemination centre on climate change. It will promote resource sharing and networking.
The SLCC will house collections in the following areas concerning climate change: policy issues; science of climate change; impacts, vulnerability and adaptation; greenhouse gas emissions and mitigation; economics of climate change; climate change and energy security; and ozone layer depletion.
The new climate change library is linked with 15 Norwegian organizations and 42 national and international bodies. The Director General of TERI, Rajendra Pachauri, is also the Chairman of the World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
