Climate Change: Keys to a Concerted Policy Shift. A European Policy Summit
This European Policy Summit, co-organised by Friends of Europe, Unilever and Microsoft with the support of Dow, UNICA (the Brazilian sugarcane industry association) and the Alliance for Beverage Cartons & the Environment (ACE), is part of the official programme of the European Commission’s Green Week. The event will take place in the European Commission’s Charlemagne Building in Brussels on June 23 and 24, 2009. Green Week is the biggest event organised by the European Commission’s Directorate General for the Environment, having developed over almost a decade into an "unmissable" annual affair for anyone involved with protecting the environment. It is visited by approximately 3,500 informed stakeholders from all over Europe and the world. The Friends of Europe summit will be translated to and from English, French and German and will be attended by some 350 senior stakeholders. It will address the media’s role in informing citizens about the climate change debate in order to ensure much-needed societal support, the role of business in implementing green policies despite the economic recession, as well as the actions that developing countries such as Brazil, India and South Africa, and leading economies such as China, the US and the EU, need to consider and act upon in the months leading to Copenhagen.
