Act Now! Climate Project in Malmö October 8 – 11, 2009

 “Act Now! The Young Friends of the Earth Climate Project” is an intensive climate campaign for young Europeans that are ready to help make 2009 the turn-around year of international climate politics.

Within the Act Now project, Young Friends of the Earth organizes regional conferences with the aim to educate young Europeans about climate politics and motivate them to take action for a fair and strong climate agreement at the UN climate change conference in Copenhagen in December 2009. Before then we need to be loud and clear to the politicians that it is our future and our planet that they are negotiating!

The Baltic Regional Climate Conference within the Act Now project will take place in Kvarnby Folkhögskola in Malmö (Sweden). You are invited to come to develop your climate knowledge and action skills. There will be a broad range of information and training concerning climate science, politics and hands on experience with preparing and planning actions as well as tactics on lobbying politicians. As part of the program of the conference we will invite local politicians and climate experts that will hold in depth presentations and want to discuss their point of view with us.

During the conference you will take part in one of three training-lines of ACT NOW:

   1. planning and doing actions
   2. media-work
   3. starting your own local climate movement/group.

During the conference the action group will plan, prepare and together with all of us do an action in the streets of Malmö. The media-group will follow by and spread the message. Besides training sessions and discussions, there will be time for you to get to know one another, watch climate movies, discuss your lifestyle and have tons of fun. Altogether we will develop into a part of the broad European climate movement and cooperate with three similar ActNow! regional conferences in Germany, France and Ireland, that will take place at the same time.Start your trip and join the movement that will shake Copenhagen!
